Paul Recieves Distinguished Service Award

Paul Recieves Distinguished Service Award

Since 1993 the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) has presented the annual Distinguished Service Award to a member who has made a significant contribution to the oranization and the practice of sustainability. Paul was honored to receive the 2015 award.

Long-standing members Jamie Wolf and John Abrams presented the award to Paul at the annual Building Energy conference. In their remarks, Jamie and John described Paul as a "consummate leader who not only reminds us that we need to do better, but rolls up his sleeves over and over and inspires us to think clearly, then act." They also called attention to his "humility, humor, wisdom, strength, and expertise."

Paul was deeply gatified by the recognition, quipping that it "was the most validation I've ever gotten at one time." He went on to describe NESEA as "smart, creative, forward-looking and aggressive"—qualities that have allowed it to remain credible and relevant to its member practicitioners. But, he added, these aren't the qualities that have inspired and held his commitment. "What keeps me coming back," Paul said, "is that the organization and everyone involved in it is kind, generous, caring. That's why I'm here and am so grateful to receive this award."
