Green House Fest
Sponsored by Mothers Out Front Brookline, Green House Fest is a self-guided tour of Brookline homes with "green" home features. Attendees will encounter a wide range of strategies and technologies for improving home performance and reducing reliance on natural gas and oil. These include air sealing and insulation, high efficiency electric heating systems, and solar photovoltaic systems. Attendees will also have a chance to hear directly from homeowners about their experiences with these technologies, and from contractors about various factors that should be addressed when planning a home performance project.
We are very excited that a recently completed Byggmeister project is included on the tour. At this home, we made substantial improvements to the envelope, cutting air leakage by roughly 25%. We also converted heating, hot water and cooking equpiment from inefficient gas systems to efficient electric ones. Rachel and other team members will be on hand to meet with tour-goers and answer questions about the project.
