Unfinished space becomes a light-filled master bath.
Capturing unfinished space is often the most practical, cost-effective and resource efficient way to expand the living space of a home. Attic eave and storage areas are often called up to fill this role—the challenge is to make these spaces light, airy & welcoming but also practical and functional.
This 80-year-old Brookline home lacked a master suite commensurate with the quality of the house. Off the original tiled bathroom, tucked under the gambrel roof, was an unfinished storage area.

Byggmeister's Solution
With the right design and skilled execution we were able to incorporate that rough space into the bathroom suite. Our approach also allowed us to improve the energy performance and comfort of the bathroom by insulating and air sealing the roof-line. The result is a comfortable, spacious dressing area accompanied by bath, toilet, and shower compartments that are fully integrated yet function as discrete spaces.
